Joao Felix has made a good start to life at AC Milan with a goal on his debut, and there is the belief that he could change the club’s fortunes ‘alone’.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) has provided an analysis of Joao Felix’s first two appearances with the Rossoneri, remarking that he can provide Sergio Conceiçao with unique tactical options that he did not have before.

The Portugal international scored on his debut as a substitute against Roma in Coppa Italia last week and he made his first start on Sunday in the 2-0 win over Empoli, playing for 84 minutes and often being the most dynamic member of the attack.

The former Benfica made “could change Milan ‘alone’ thanks to his unpredictability and versatility” as per the report. He can play either as a playmaker or as a second striker, allowing the switch between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2 formation.

Felix made 53 touches all across Milan’s final third in a free-roaming role, but what was perhaps lacking was his finishing in front of goal as he had just one shot on target (out of five), and he missed a big chance in the second half.

Nonetheless, with familiarity things should only improve more and the main thing to note is the instant confidence that he seems to be playing with, plus the link up with Rafael Leao.
