The repercussions of the violent scenes outside OGC Nice’s training ground on Sunday night are yet to be truly felt.

Jérémie Boga and Terem Moffi bore the brunt of fans’ ire. Following Sunday’s defeat to FC Lorient, their sixth in a row in all competitions, around 400 Nice fans gathered outside the training ground to make their feelings known upon the return of the team bus.

Moffi and Boga were kicked, punched, insulted, and spat at, according to L’Équipe, RMC Sport and Foot Mercato. Both players are now on sick leave and have begun legal proceedings against the alleged perpetrators of the violence. The LFP and the UNFP have announced that they will be a civil party in the proceedings.

Franck Haise’s future at the club is also now uncertain. A report from RMC Sport suggested that he was set to resign. And a mass exodus could follow. Moffi and Boga don’t want to play for the club again, as revealed by Nice-Matin, and Romain Molina now reports that “several” Nice players have asked their agents to quickly find them a new club.
