FLW's Coventry City fan pundit was overwhelmed with joy when the news broke surrounding the purchase of the CBS Arena.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
The purchase of the CBS Arena was a day that all Coventry City fans dreamed of, and that day came this past Saturday, when Doug King made the ground their own.
The Sky Blues announced this joyous news ahead of their clash with QPR, stating that a purchase agreement had been made between Coventry's owner, Doug King, and the Frasers Group founder, Mike Ashley.
Coventry fans have been through a lot of turmoil over the past couple of decades, from almost falling into administration, to the then-saviours Sisu International overseeing some more frustrating years when the Sky Blues had to play in numerous different places.
Now, there is no worry about where the club plays, as the CBS Arena is now their home.
FLW's Coventry fan pundit, Chris Deez, was overcome with joy upon the announcement.
Chris was a mixture of shocked and elated when the news broke on Saturday morning that Doug King had purchased the CBS Arena, and when asked how he felt about it by Football League World, he said: "There's no other word to describe it. It's absolutely incredible!
"I had a lie-in on Saturday and woke up late to an email notification saying that Doug King had secured a new deal for us, and I thought it was a new sponsorship, so I swiped it away!
"Then I got a phone call from my Dad, and I was floored, absolutely stunned. I didn't think that this day would come."
It's been 20 years since the CBS Arena was built, but Coventry had to rent out the ground, despite it being built for them in the first place. Four different people had owned the stadium before it was finally purchased by King last weekend.
It's been a slow transfer window so far at Coventry, but this particular purchase has made up for everything.
"It was built for us, but it was never ours - it never felt like home, and we've had more downs than ups since," Deez continued.
"The move away to Northampton and playing at Sixfields, having to ground share with our bitter rivals Birmingham City, the Sisu ownership in general, court cases, a London rugby club owning the ground and countless rent problems.
"We've been crying out for King to make some signings, but this is the most incredible deal, and it eclipses any player we could have brought in.
"Securing our long-term future, owning our stadium for the first time, the revenue which can now come in from a matchday, the potential to name each stand for extra revenue - although I hope we don't do it for all the stands, it'd be nice to have a nod to Jimmy Hill and John Sillett."
Despite the various lows, there have still been some incredible highs for Coventry fans in the past couple of decades, but Deez feels that this purchase overshadows everything.
"I'm in my mid-thirties," he explained. "I didn't see us win the FA Cup in '87, but I've seen Cov at Wembley a few times, and I've seen us win trophies and get promotions, but the news that broke on Saturday morning has to be the highlight of my Coventry supporting life."
The rest of the footballing world was quick to share in Coventry's joy, and Deez hopes that this purchase can help the club kick on massively in the future.
"It says a lot when, across social media, fans of Leicester City, Birmingham and Sunderland were saying how happy they were for us," he continued.
"Football was united in its joy and positivity for us, and it's so rare, especially on social media.
"Doug King has spent many millions to get this done, so there may not be any more signings this window, but come the next window, we should be turning around more money, so fingers crossed [for more signings].
"It's obviously incredible news and will hopefully take us up to the next level."
