Coventry City have been linked with a move for Jesse Derry, but there's another Premier League talent that they should be eyeing a loan deal for.

Coventry City supporters could be forgiven for having one eye on next season already, despite there still be games remaining in their 2025/26 league campaign.

The Sky Blues have been hugely impressive this term under the management of Frank Lampard, and they're highly likely to be crowned league champions in the Championship.

The likes of Haji Wright, Matt Grimes, and Carl Rushworth are just some of the players that have caught the eye in the promotion-winning season.

It seems as though preparation for the Premier League is already underway, with talkSPORT reporting that Coventry are eyeing a loan move for Chelsea youngster, Jesse Derry, who has seemingly made a good impression for the Blues' Under-21s side in recent months.

Derry has been rewarded with his senior debut for Chelsea this season, which came in an FA Cup win against Championship side, Hull City earlier this year.

It remains to be seen whether Derry is Coventry's main transfer target on loan this summer, as you would imagine that the Sky Blues are likely to have their eyes set on many different players as they look to survive in the top-flight.

Another Premier League talent that could prove to be a useful addition to the Sky Blues' squad ahead of next season is promising Manchester United winger, Shea Lacey.

Lacey has caught the eye for all the right reasons

Shea Lacey is highly regarded as one of Manchester United top young players, and you would imagine that the Red Devils will be keen to see the youngster find regular first-team football ahead of next year's campaign.

Lacey has experience of playing in senior football with Manchester United, having made three appearances for the club's first-team. His last spell in the senior squad was a forgetful one though, as he was sent-off for a second bookable offence in a 2-1 defeat against fellow Premier League side, Brighton & Hove Albion.

The winger is an exciting talent though, and has been in brilliant form for Manchester United's Under-21s side this season. Lacey has scored ten goals in 15 appearances for the Red Devils' academy team this season, whilst also chipping in with four assists for his team-mates.

He has a direct approach when going forward, which can make him a nightmare for opposition defences to come up against, especially when his trickery on the ball is there for all to see.

Coventry could be the ideal destination for Lacey

Coventry City certainly need reinforcements to their squad during the summer transfer window, as despite having a strong team already, strength in depth is needed.

Lacey primarily operates as a right winger, which is an area that Coventry already have some good options in. The likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante have played a key role in Coventry's impressive season to date, with the 27-year-old scoring 12 goals in 28 league appearances for Frank Lampard's side this term.

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is another option that Lampard has available to him at right-wing, but with one year remaining on his contract, it remains to be seen as to whether he'll feature as much on a regular basis for the Sky Blues when they're playing their football in the Premier League.

Haji Wright and Ellis Simms would be the main players to benefit at Coventry if Lacey was to arrive at the club on a temporary basis, as he could provide them with the ideal service that they need to score goals on a regular basis.

They've both been hugely important for Coventry in recent years in particular, and will be desperate to have the service they need to keep the Sky Blues in the Premier League for the foreseeable future.

Lacey would be a smart addition for Coventry, especially when he'll be eager to prove a point at senior level on a regular basis. It would be a low-risk move for the Sky Blues as well, as the youngster won't be on sizeable wages, and Lampard's side should certainly consider making their move for a player of his quality.
