Cremonese, after a strong start to the season in which the newly-promoted side have won their first two games, are still making moves to strengthen their squad in the closing days of the transfer window, with reports from Italy claiming that the club are closing in on deals for Jamie Vardy and Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento.

According to what has been reported by Sky Sport, the deals for Vardy and Sarmiento are all-but official, with the Brighton youngster set to join on loan and the experienced English striker joining on a free transfer.

Sky also claim that the club are plotting to hijack Rangers’ move for Marseille defender Derek Cornelius, with the Scottish side in the advanced stages of signing the Canadian.

Cremonese look to end summer window on high with Vardy signing

Sky report that the formal details of Vardy’s move to Cremonese are now in the works, with Davide Nicola’s side aiming to have the former Leicester City striker in Italy by Sunday.

Sarmiento is set to arrive in Italy this evening ahead of medical tests whilst the move for Cornelius will depend on the player’s will – and whether or not he is ready to snub Rangers.

Cremonese shocked many when they defeated Milan at San Siro in their season opener, before seeing out a competent 3-2 victory over Sassuolo yesterday evening.
