According to CBS Sports, Cristiano Ronaldo has threatened to walk away from Al-Nassr this summer as he continues a strike over recent transfer dealings. He missed the 1-0 win over Al-Riyadh while protesting PIF’s move to switch Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal.
The report says he is prepared to leave Saudi Arabia if he does not receive assurances on the club’s direction, and that he feels betrayed. His deal is said to include a €50 million (£43m) release clause, with interest mooted from Sporting CP and leading clubs in Türkiye.
Officials were said to expect him to end the strike on Thursday. He has returned to training, with Al-Nassr due to face Al-Ittihad on Friday.
Ronaldo reportedly earns £500,000 a day and is contractually obliged to make himself available unless injured. It is unclear whether he will feature against Ittihad as he considers his next steps.
Al-Hilal are four points clear of Al-Nassr at the top of the table. Benzema scored a hat-trick on his debut in a win over Akhdoud. Al-Nassr’s January business amounted to under-23 midfielder Haydeer Abdulkareem.
Ronaldo has not yet won the Saudi Pro League during his time in the country.
