Cristiano Ronaldo, who sat out Al-Nassr’s past two games in protest at Karim Benzema’s move to Al-Hilal, is expected to return soon, ESPN reports.

The Portugal international missed those fixtures not through injury but in objection to what he views as an unfair transfer.

He has accused Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns 75% of Al-Hilal, of assisting the recruitment of his former Real Madrid team-mate during the winter window. He has 226 caps and 143 goals for Portugal.

Supporters of Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad expressed similar sentiments during their meeting on 7 February.

The report said PIF had accepted Ronaldo’s requests to offset the move, namely lifting the suspensions of Al-Nassr sporting director Simao Coutinho and chief executive José Semedo. Ronaldo is expected to feature in the club’s next league match on 14 February.
