According to Sky Sports News, Crystal Palace have entered into negotiations to renew the contract of Jean-Philippe Mateta (27), despite interest from Manchester United and Juventus. The 27-year-old’s current deal at Selhurst Park is set to expire in 2026.
With Mateta potentially able to leave on a free transfer at the end of next season, the Premier League club are eager to tie the Frenchman down to a new deal. However, if the FA Cup winners are not able to reach an agreement with the former Lyon striker, they will be forced to sanction a transfer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Mateta was in fine form for the Croydon-based club last term. The former France youth international scored 14 goals in 37 league appearances and played a pivotal part in the club winning their first major trophy. It remains to be seen whether the striker would prefer to remain at Selhurst Park or start a new chapter this summer.
