Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over the transfer of Brennan Johnson.
An agreement is in place between the clubs on a fee of around £35 million, which would represent one of the most significant sales in Tottenham’s history.
Only the departures of Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker would rank higher financially for Spurs, despite Johnson no longer being viewed as central to their long-term plans.
Palace have identified the Wales international as a priority target as Oliver Glasner looks to add penetration and reliability to an attack that has struggled for consistency this season.
Johnson’s arrival would bolster their options across the front line as they balance domestic duties with their ongoing European commitments.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, finishing as Tottenham’s leading scorer with 18 goals in all competitions.
His influence has diminished under Thomas Frank. He has started only six Premier League matches this term.
Tottenham’s summer recruitment has reshaped their wide options, with Mohammed Kudus largely taking over on the right flank.
Dejan Kulusevski remains sidelined after knee surgery, although he is also capable of operating in midfield.
Palace’s interest has been long-standing, with the club making Johnson their leading attacking target for the winter transfer window.
From Palace’s perspective, the deal would bring proven Premier League output and valuable European experience into a squad that lacks a cutting edge.
Johnson began his career at Nottingham Forest, where he played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League during the 2021-22 season.
He joined Tottenham for £47.5 million in 2023 and made an immediate impact under Ange Postecoglou.
Johnson registered five goals and 11 assists in his debut season as Tottenham secured Europa League qualification.
He followed that with a standout 2024-25 campaign, scoring decisive goals in Europe, including the winner in the Europa League final.
That strike ended Tottenham’s long wait for silverware and cemented Johnson’s reputation as a big-game contributor.
Despite that pedigree Spurs appear open to a sale as they prioritise different attacking profiles.
