Crystal Palace face a tough away trip to Aston Villa on Sunday, their third difficult fixture in the space of a week.
After a midweek draw in Norway in the Europa Conference League, Oliver Glasner must contend with travel fatigue and a growing injury list as his side search for their first league win of the season. The combination of a demanding schedule and a depleted squad will severely test the resilience of his players as they look to kickstart their domestic campaign.
Oliver Glasner faces a major selection headache in defence. Captain Marc Guéhi is a significant doubt for the match due to ongoing transfer speculation. His absence would likely force a reshuffle, with veteran Nathaniel Clyne potentially moving into the back three.
The Eagles are also without a number of other key players, including Cheick Doucouré, Chadi Riad, and Eddie Nketiah.
However, there is some positive news. Daichi Kamada is nearing a return from a knee injury and could be brought back into the side to provide a much-needed creative spark in the post-Eberechi Eze era. The attack will be led by Jean-Philippe Mateta, with the in-form Ismaïla Sarr – who has 10 goal involvements against Villa – a key threat.
Crystal Palace predicted XI: Henderson; Clyne, Richards, Lacroix, Muñoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Sarr, Mateta, Devenny.
The Premier League fixture takes place at Villa Park on Sunday, 31st August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm BST.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK. Coverage begins at 6:30 pm BST.
