Do you know who currently holds the longest unbeaten streak in European football? If you guessed one of the continent's giants, think again.

Crystal Palace are experiencing a unique moment and confirmed on Thursday the longest unbeaten run in the club's history with a victory over Dynamo Kyiv in Lublin.

With Yéremy Pino serving as the playmaker, Daniel Muñoz and Eddie Nketiah scored to secure a 2-0 victory over the Ukrainians in the opening of the Conference League. This marked the club's 19th game without defeat.

Back in 1969, the year man landed on the moon and the historic Woodstock festival took place, Palace also went their previously longest undefeated streak.

That time, the London club remained unbeaten from January 25 to August 16 (losing 2-1 to Everton). The Eagles had been in the only Second Division in the 1968/69 season and earned promotion to the top flight – narrowly avoiding relegation in the 1969/70 season.

More than five decades later, the Eagles suffered a 5-0 defeat to Newcastle United, having lost in the previous game to Manchester City by 5-2. These were tough losses in another 'quiet' season in the top flight, with a mid-table campaign.

From that point on, Oliver Glasner's began the longest unbeaten streak in Palace's history. Last season, the team drew with Arsenal and Liverpool, and defeated Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Against the Citizens at Wembley, they benefited from a goal by Eze, who was sold in the last transfer window to Arsenal, to win the FA Cup, the first top-tier title in Eagles' history.

Turning to the new season, another encounter at Wembley brought another title: the Community shield, won on penalties after a draw in normal time against Liverpool. At the start of the current Premier League campaign, Palace had a goalless draw away to Chelsea, and again remained unbeaten against the Big Six.

During the unbeaten period, Palace recorded two draws and a win against Liverpool, a draw against Arsenal and Chelsea, and victories over Manchester City and Tottenham.

Out of the 19 unbeaten games, therefore, 7 were against the group of the six largest English clubs.

Crystal Palace clearly holds the longest current unbeaten streak in Europe when looking at the top 10 UEFA federations. The closest is FK Jablonec from the Czech Republic, with 12 unbeaten games (lost on May 24 to Plzen in the Czech League). FC Porto reached 10 after a victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League while Cremonese, Elche, and Bayern Munich each have 9 unbeaten games.

Borussia Dortmund (8 games) and Juventus (7 games) are still unbeaten this season suffered defeats in the FIFA Club World Cup. Meanwhile, Goztepe from Turkey also remains unbeaten this season with 8 games.

Outside the top 10 by UEFA federation coefficients, two Scottish clubs are closest to Palace on the continent: Hearts (15 games unbeaten) and Motherwell (14 games unbeaten).

Next weekend, Crystal Palace's opponent in the Premier League will be the very team that ended their 1969 unbeaten run: Everton, away from home.
