Crystal Palace’s move for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is in doubt, with the deal yet to be agreed and Leeds United still interested, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Palace were close to reaching an agreement with Wolves on Thursday for the 25-year-old Norway international. The proposed deal was worth £45m, with a possible further £5m in add-ons.
However, it is believed that Palace may now be prepared to walk away from the deal, although others insist talks are continuing.
Leeds remain in discussions with Wolves but are not willing to pay more than £40m for Strand Larsen. That fee would still be a club-record signing for the Championship side, who are keen to manage their finances carefully.
Strand Larsen has scored six goals in all competitions this season, with just one coming in the Premier League. Wolves are bottom of the table and facing relegation, and the striker is keen to stay in the top flight if he leaves the club.
Palace’s interest in Strand Larsen comes as uncertainty surrounds the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta. Nottingham Forest have made a £35m bid for the France forward, but Palace are yet to respond.
Mateta remains with the squad ahead of Sunday’s game at Forest, with his future likely to be decided before the transfer window closes on Monday.
