AS Saint-Étienne have had to fend off interest in Lucas Stassin (20) all summer, and even with the transfer window in France closed, there is still interest in the Belgian forward.
The Belgian forward was a rare bright spark in a difficult season for ASSE in Ligue 1, and there has been no shortage of interest.
However, Les Verts, backed by wealthy owners Kilmer Sports Ventures, have the financial stability to retain their stars, despite relegation. It has allowed them to rebuff approaches for Stassin and Zuriko Davitashvili.
Following the closure of the transfer window in France on 1st September, Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal made an attempt to sign Stassin. However, ASSE’s price tag for the forward, rumoured to be between €30-40m, ended talks.
There has now also been interest from Russian club CSKA Moscow, according to Sacha Tavolieri. They offered Saint-Étienne €25m plus an extra €12m in bonuses. The offer was refused, as much because of the fee as because of the current geo-political climate.
