Vasco player ratings from an opening Brasileirão defeat to Mirassol, with Cuesta, Piton and Puma rated worst despite Philippe Coutinho scoring. According to Globo.com, Mirassol came from behind to win.
Léo Jardim made two saves early and was not blamed for the goals conceded. Puma supplied the cross for Coutinho’s header, then endured a poor night marked by risky passes and uncertainty.
Defensive frailties persisted in Fernando Diniz’s high line. Cuesta put into his own net trying to cut out a pass, and Lucas Piton lost the ball before Eduardo scored via a deflection off Thiago Mendes. Robert Renan kept forcing short passes under pressure.
Barros kept things simple and was solid out of possession. Johan Rojas started brightly then faded and was replaced, while Nuno Moreira was quiet and withdrawn after a cooling-break rebuke. Matheus França made a key recovery but offered little on the ball.
From the bench, Andrés Gómez threatened at first then resorted to crosses with no target after the turnaround. João Vitor filled in at left-back and pushed on late. Andrey Fernandes, 17, made his first senior outing of 2026, settled after early nerves and went close in stoppage time, while GB arrived too late to rate.
