Serie A side Inter are facing major difficulties in a move for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, as the player is resisting a renewal at Anfield.
Corriere dello Sport what has been echoed elsewhere, claiming that Liverpool want to extend Jones’ contract till 2028 before letting him leave for Inter on loan. Jones feels undervalued by the Reds and is resisting these attempts to sign a new deal.
Inter do have a rough agreement in place with Liverpool over an initial loan with an option to buy for around €40 million. But the move is being held up by the player’s unwillingness to renew.
This also impacts the future of Davide Frattesi. Nottingham Forest have an agreement for the Italian and the player is keen. But Jones would be a replacement and if he doesn’t join, Frattesi will stay at Inter.
Everything now hinges on whether Liverpool tie the Englishman down to a renewal or not. That is an attempt to raise the player’s value but it would make it difficult for the player to seek a viable destination as his value would rise.
