Curtis Jones has reached the sort of career crossroads that rarely arrives neatly. According to SportsBoom, Juventus have now joined Inter Milan in the race for the Liverpool midfielder, raising the prospect of a genuine Serie A tug of war for a player whose future at Anfield feels increasingly uncertain.
Jones, now 25, is entering the final year of his Liverpool contract. That matters. It changes the rhythm of negotiations, sharpens the tone of every conversation and leaves Liverpool balancing two competing instincts, keeping a homegrown player of real technical value or cashing in before his contract begins to dictate the price.
Inter Milan have tracked Jones since January, yet their latest offer, understood to be around £22m, remains some distance below Liverpool’s reported £35m valuation. That gap is significant. It tells us Liverpool are not simply looking to move Jones on, nor are they willing to accept a reduced fee because of his contract situation.

“A heavyweight battle between Italy’s two biggest clubs is set to erupt after Juventus joined Inter Milan in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones,” the report reads.
That line captures the shift. Inter may have opened the conversation, but Juventus entering the race changes the leverage. Liverpool will hope competition creates urgency, especially if Inter continue to negotiate cautiously.
For Juventus, Jones makes sense. He is technically secure, tactically flexible and experienced in a Liverpool environment where intensity is non-negotiable. For Inter, he fits a midfield rebuild after a disappointing campaign. For Jones, Italy could offer something he has not always had at Anfield, a defined central role.
At Liverpool, he featured regularly under Arne Slot, but not always where he wanted. Late-season minutes at right-back showed his usefulness, yet also highlighted the issue. Jones wants to be valued as a midfielder, not merely admired as a problem-solver.
Liverpool’s stance appears clear. They would rather keep Jones for the 2026/27 season than sell below their valuation. That may feel risky with his deal expiring in 2027, but it also reflects how highly he is still regarded internally.
For now, though, Juventus entering the conversation gives Liverpool exactly what they needed, pressure on Inter and proof that Jones’ market has not gone quiet.
From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, this feels like one of those situations where the club have to be careful not to blink first. £22m for Curtis Jones feels light, especially for a homegrown England international with Premier League experience, Champions League exposure and clear tactical intelligence.
There is a fair argument that Jones has never quite nailed down the role many hoped he would. Injuries, competition and tactical reshuffles have all played their part. Yet selling him cheaply would feel careless. Liverpool spent years being praised for smart market work. Letting a player like Jones go below value because Inter are testing the waters would not match that reputation.
Juventus entering the race should strengthen Liverpool’s hand. If two major Italian clubs genuinely want him, the price should move closer to the club’s valuation. Simple as that.
The Iraola factor is interesting too. A new manager means a new set of eyes. Jones may suit a more aggressive, front-foot midfield if given rhythm and trust. Supporters will understand if he wants more guaranteed football, but they will also expect Liverpool to protect their own value.
At £35m, a sale becomes understandable. At £22m, it feels like Inter are trying their luck.
