Juventus sporting director Damien Comolli has been suspended after Inter beat Juventus 3-2 in the Derby d’Italia on Saturday, a match marked by fierce criticism of the officiating following the unjustified red card shown to Pierre Kalulu.
According to L'Équipe, the Italian league has banned him until 31 March and fined him €15,000 for aggressive and gravely intimidating conduct in the stadium tunnel at half-time.
The former Toulouse president is accused of seeking physical contact with the referee, an incident averted thanks to intervention that included Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti. He is also alleged to have used gravely insulting expressions towards referee Federico La Penna.
Giorgio Chiellini, the club’s head of international relations, has been suspended until 27 February.
After the match, Comolli said he told his players they had performed well but sensed deep frustration among them and the coach. He believed supporters felt the same and argued that discussing football made no sense given events he called shameful and very hard to accept.
La Penna later received numerous threats on social media and was advised by Italian police not to leave his home.
