FC Bayern are facing a tricky personnel issue ahead of the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Key players have yellow cards – and could take themselves out of the running ahead of the top game at BVB

After a day and a half off, FC Bayern are fully focused on the Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (15:30). Vincent Kompany has no personnel worries – on the contrary: the coach has to decide who to leave out. As reported by kicker , the yellow card situation could play a key role in this

Joshua Kimmich and Jonathan Tah have four yellow cards each, and a further caution against Frankfurt would automatically mean a suspension for the following top match at Borussia Dortmund. Kompany wants to be at his best there, which raises the question of whether the coach will take his key players out of the starting eleven as a precaution

Kimmich with unusually weak stats

In the recent 3-0 win in Bremen, Kimmich stood out statistically – but not only in a positive way. The DFB captain made 21 ball losses, including misplaced passes, more than ever before this season. Previously, his average was 11.1 per 90 minutes. His tackle rate has also fallen from 58.2 to 50.9 per cent since the winter break

It looks as if the ankle injury he suffered in November could still affect him slightly. Kompany had already rested him in December and at the start of the year for this reason. After missing three games, Kimmich returned as a substitute in Leipzig and subsequently played in every match

The 30-year-old is generally considered a regular under Kompany and is clearly planned as a six in front of the defence, but the coach has shown in the past that he does not shy away from prominent bench positions

Goretzka also affected – rotation in defense likely

In addition to Kimmich and Tah, Leon Goretzka is also on four yellow cards. 20-year-old Tom Bischof, who started against Wolfsburg at the start of the year, could be an alternative in the center

Rotation is easier in defence. Dayot Upamecano was given a break in Bremen, while Min-Jae Kim impressed once again. It is therefore possible that Tah will sit out against Frankfurt. Hiroki Ito is also an option in central defence

In goal, meanwhile, one change is certain: Manuel Neuer is still out with a torn fibre in his calf. Although the 39-year-old is hoping for a comeback at BVB, this does not seem realistic at present. Jonas Urbig will therefore make his ninth competitive appearance of the season against Frankfurt.
