Dani Olmo weighs in on the current Barcelona centre-forward dilemma | OneFootball

It is no secret that FC Barcelona are trying to figure out the centre-forward problem at the club right now. With Robert Lewandowski having left the team and Ferran Torres still unconvincing as a starting striker, the Catalan giants certainly need to pay attention to this matter.

For several weeks now, the priority target for La Blaugrana has been Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. However, with that whole operation currently being stalled and things not looking to progress any time soon, alternatives are worth keeping in mind.

However, Barcelona star Dani Olmo has offered himself up as an option to start in this position if necessary. As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the 28-year-old Spanish player recently spoke about the topic in an interview:

“I’ve already played in that position, and I’d have no problem playing there if the coach thinks it’s the best option. I feel comfortable there.”

Moreover, he referenced both Ferran Torres and new arrival Anthony Gordon as players who can fill that void if needed as well moving forward:

At the same time, however, Olmo did not shut down the door to the possibility of a new striker arriving at Barcelona as well this summer:

“So we have enough players to cover the position, and if more players arrive, they’ll be welcome because they’ll strengthen the squad.”

For now, however, it seems to be clear enough that the club wants to bring in a new specialist signing this summer to ensure that the team can compete at the highest level. Several Barcelona players, including the likes of Lamine Yamal and Pedri, have already shared their opinions on Alvarez and it seems that the club remains dedicated to that operation as well.
