Leeds United and Daniel Farke have been handed a timely fitness boost, with Anton Stach returning from Germany duty largely unused and fresh for the run-in.
As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 27-year-old earned a first Germany call-up in four years for friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana after a standout debut season at Leeds, following his £17million summer move.
Stach’s involvement against Switzerland was limited to a 10-minute cameo with the score at 3-3, before Germany edged a 4-3 thriller. His club team-mate Noah Okafor was an unused substitute for the opposition.
Named on the bench again for Monday’s meeting with Ghana in Stuttgart, Stach did not feature in the 2-1 win sealed by goals from Kai Havertz and Deniz Undav. Julian Nagelsmann made eight substitutions under relaxed friendly rules but chose not to use the Leeds midfielder.
Stach has been close to ever-present for Farke, missing only a handful of Premier League games through injury. Before the break he completed the full 90 minutes in four demanding fixtures against Manchester City, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Brentford.
He now returns with just 10 minutes in his legs during the interval. Leeds visit West Ham for an FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday, then have a full week before their Premier League return at Manchester United on Monday, April 13. It remains to be seen how strong a side Farke selects, with a potential Wembley trip weighed against survival priorities, and while victory would build momentum, those involved could risk injury.
