Leeds United are weighing January additions, with Sevilla winger Ruben Vargas emerging as a creative option after the club’s failed summer push for Harry Wilson.
According to Leedsunited.news, Daniel Farke has been offered the chance to sign Vargas for £8.7m, with the Swiss forward among La Liga’s most productive attackers.
Leeds made a late move for Wilson in the summer, only for Fulham to pull the plug. He has since said the transfer looked on before it collapsed, highlighting the need for more invention.
Sevilla, with Victor Orta as sporting director, recruited Vargas from Augsburg in January 2025 for £2m, a deal seen as a bargain.
This season he has seven goal involvements in 12 La Liga matches, a similar output to Wilson. Both are of a similar age, established internationals and comfortable across the frontline.
Farke’s recruitment has delivered value, from Jayden Bogle at £5m and Ao Tanaka at £3.5m to Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu at £10m each, plus Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free.
Gabi Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, Noah Okafor and Jaka Bijol have also arrived and been solid additions. For under £9m, Vargas would top the lot, given his output, more than 50 Switzerland caps and his age, still in his 20s.
