However, speaking to the Whites' media team, he also had plenty of praise for the Black Cats, who have made a very decent start to the 2024/25 campaign under Regis Le Bris.

The Wearside club weren't exactly heading in the right direction for much of last season, but Le Bris has done a decent job so far and guided his team to a win against Derby County in midweek.

Currently sitting at the top of the Championship table, they can be very pleased with their work, although they don't face an easy assignment this evening, despite having the home advantage.

Leeds are also in the promotion mix despite suffering a couple of disappointing setbacks during the early stages of the season, with Daniel Farke's men currently sitting in fifth place.

Ready to challenge for an automatic promotion place after suffering play-off final heartbreak in May, the Whites will be eager to secure a return to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

They may have lost several key players during the summer transfer window, but they have also brought in some very talented additions, including Ao Tanaka and Largie Ramazani.

Leeds will be heading to the Stadium of Light hoping to secure all three points - but they know it won't be an easy task.

Daniel Farke's warning to Sunderland ahead of Leeds United game

Farke spoke to the media ahead of this evening's mouth-watering clash.

He had some kind words for his opponents, but also warned that his team are in a good place right now.

He told the Whites' media team: "They've done pretty, pretty well so far.

"In these early stages you have to win as many points as possible and they've won many, many points so far, they’ve also won every home game so far.

"We know that they're in really good shape, they have good players, they are strong on the counter-attack, they are strong in all their offensive positions.

"They have players who can score goals and for that, it’s a really dangerous side and I'm full of respect of their work. But, we also know that we are in a good shape and we want to make sure that we are ready to go again on Friday.

"I expect again a tight game against a really good opponent, and we have to be at our best to give ourselves a chance."

There are so many talented players who could play a big part tonight.

For the Black Cats, Romaine Mundle could continue to shine, and he's definitely one to keep an eye on.

Jobe Bellingham is also a young player to watch - and Wilson Isidor will be full of confidence following his goal in midweek against Derby County.

For Leeds, Willy Gnonto will be keen to make an impact and show why he has attracted interest in the past, and Ramazani is another threatening attacking player.

With all of these players likely to be in action, tonight looks set to be a fascinating encounter.
