Four goals from Leeds United ensured Daniel Farke’s side cruised past SC Verl to record their first victory of the pre-season campaign.

Having drawn with Manchester United in Stockholm last time out, the Whites put in a dominant display to defeat their German opposition at the SPORTCLUB Arena.

A brace from Joël Piroe alongside strikes from Willy Gnonto and Lukas Nmecha left the manager pleased with what he had seen at full-time.

“Overall, the first win under our belt is good,” Farke told LUTV. “It was the challenging and difficult game that I expected.

“We had two really tough training days in the last two days. It was difficult for us today but I liked our reaction, although obviously the lads were a bit tired today. Many compliments to the lads, first win under our belt, I am pleased with this performance.

“First of all character like I mentioned also in this game not just in the spotlight in front of 50,000 against Manchester United but also in this game when the opponent will press and you are tired anyhow because we had yesterday two really tough training sessions.

“We don’t let our standards drop and we want to be at our best. We wanted to win this game, we want to do our thing. That is what we did.

“I have seen a lot of what I'm really happy with and many things to be positive about. Overall, a really good game for us.

“It is important to get these minutes into the tank so to speed up our fitness levels but also to get more and more used to our process to our game.”
