Danilo rejected José Boto’s depiction of Flamengo’s dressing room and criticised referee Piero Maza after the Libertadores clash at Estudiantes.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Boto said the dressing room looked like a war scene at the Estádio Jorge Luis Hirschi. Danilo said physical clashes are part of Libertadores ties, but when clear incidents are missed it crosses a line in football, noting the point applied to Flamengo or any team.
On Wednesday 29, Flamengo travelled to La Plata to face Estudiantes, contending with the pressure from the stands and what were described as very serious errors by Maza.
In the first half, he did not send off Farías after a scissor tackle on Emerson Royal. In the second, he kept his cards away again when Palacios went in heavily on Bruno Henrique.
Despite that, Flamengo ended the first round of the group stage on top with seven points, ahead of Estudiantes on five. Independiente Medellín (COL) and Cusco (POR) have one and zero respectively.
With Danilo available, Flamengo face Vasco on Sunday in the 14th round of the Brasileirão at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 16:00 Brasília time.
