Danny Welbeck’s move from Albion to Chelsea is expected to go through over the weekend after he returned to England from the pre-season camp in Austria.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, he is expected to sign a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee and link up with his new team-mates in the Far East.

Albion will keep their eyes open for attacking reinforcements and will be aware fans will be impatient for a new signing. They are also guardedly excited about Charalampos Kostoulas, who is 19 and will require patience at times. The club firmly believe he is ready to start realising his potential and he looks fit and sharp this summer after needing time to settle following his move from Olympiacos last year.

Kostoulas scored twice in the opening friendly against Wycombe and has looked confident in training. He is set for further minutes when the Seagulls face Strasbourg in a friendly on Saturday.

Fellow Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas did not travel to Austria and is believed to be making good progress in his rehabilitation at Lancing. Evan Ferguson will remain with Albion for at least the first half of the season and will be given a chance to impress once fully recovered from an ankle injury.

Albion are pleased with the early business completed, which has allowed summer recruits to take a full part in team training already.
