David De Gea says he has finally found peace and belonging at Fiorentina.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper joined the Serie A side last summer and told So Foot Arena, via AlfredoPedulla.com, that settling in Italy was easier than expected.
De Gea revealed that the club’s facilities and atmosphere played a huge part in his decision. “As soon as I arrived at Fiorentina I felt at ease,” he said.

“The Viola Park is incredible and had a big influence on my choice. But it’s not just that — with the staff, teammates and everyone around the club, it feels like being part of a big family. The fans are special, and I love watching the curva sing.”
The Spaniard also praised life in Florence: “It’s a city everyone wants to visit – small but beautiful, and the food is special. All of this made me want to stay and try to win a trophy.”
Reflecting on his year without football, De Gea described it as unexpectedly fulfilling. “I learned that you can live even without football,” he said. “It was one of the best years of my life personally, because I finally had time with my family – something I missed at Manchester United.”

When Fiorentina made contact, there was no hesitation. “I was training and knew I was ready,” De Gea explained. “I wanted to return to a top league, and Italy was the dream. When Fiorentina called, the decision was simple.”
