According to the report, “the chance to continue playing Champions League football was deemed an important factor in the proposed move to Villarreal.”

At 32, Partey’s priorities are shifting. The pursuit of consistent top-level football, and perhaps some familiarity with La Liga from his time at Atletico Madrid, seem to have steered him towards the Yellow Submarine.
