DAZN: Fofana forced off during Genoa win with injury – the reassuring update | OneFootball

Some fears were raised about Youssouf Fofana after he was forced off during the first half of AC Milan’s win over Genoa.

In the 28th minute of the comeback victory in the game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Fofana went down in some discomfort in the middle of the field and it quickly became apparent that he could not continue.

Rafael Leao came on and took his place with Ruben Loftus-Cheek then switching to midfield, and it was a worry given that the Frenchman has been a lot better in recent weeks, since the switch in formation.

According to what is being reported by DAZN (via MilanNews), Fofana took a knock on the underside of his foot. Once on the bench he took off his boot and applied ice to the impacted area. From what it seems there is no need to be alarmed: the feeling is that the problem is not serious.

It is good news for Sergio Conceicao, especially with an eye on the Coppa Italia final against Bologna next week. Presuming that he is fully fit, it seems almost certain the former Monaco man will start alongside Tijjani Reijnders in the double pivot once again.
