Over the past few months, FC Barcelona have been hard at work to secure the futures of their key players by tying them down with new contracts.
The likes of Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Gavi, and Inigo Martinez have all signed new deals and more renewals are expected to be on the cards.
One such player who the Blaugrana are eager to renew is captain and talisman Raphinha. The Brazilian international is enjoying an absolute dream campaign and with his contract expiring in two years, the club want to secure his future with an extension.
As such, Jijantes FC reports that Barcelona sporting director Deco met with the agent of Raphinha to begin talks over a new contract and lay the foundation for an agreement.
The Catalan heavyweights are understood to be delighted with Raphinha – both his performance and his attitude have pleased the club very much.
As such, the idea is to tie him down to a new contract, especially with Saudi Arabia sniffing around to sign him.

Negotiations are in the initial phase at the moment but the Blaugrana are laying the groundwork to seal an agreement over a renewal soon.
There have been speculations that Raphinha’s new contract might include an affordable release clause, much like the one with Ronald Araujo, in case the former Leeds United winger considers an exit in the near future.
However, there have been no indications from the player’s part that he wishes to leave. In fact, the Brazilian international confirmed in a recent interview that the only way he would consider an exit is if Barcelona no longer wanted him.
“I’m someone who thinks this way: I’ll only stay where they want me to stay. I might want to stay here my whole life, but if I feel they don’t want me here, I’ll have no problem thanking them,” he said.
“I’m the most grateful person in the world to have worn this shirt, but if I feel the club doesn’t want me, I’ll say thank you very much, and I’ll go to where they want me.”
