Barcelona sporting director Deco has this weekend forwarded something of a warning the way of the club’s supporters.
This comes with regards to the club’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Despite the market being a full month from officially opening, Barcelona have of course already been linked with a whole host of potential signings from across the continent.
The likes of Joan García, Luis Díaz and Marcus Rashford have all been tipped as additions to Hansi Flick’s squad with a view to next season.
Speaking to the media this weekend, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Barca’s plans for the transfer window was, in turn, put to the aforementioned Deco.
And, during an appearance at the National Association of Directors of Football, Futsal and Beach Soccer (as cited by Diario Sport), the Blaugrana director made use of the opportunity to warn that the Spanish champions will not bring in players just for the sake of adding numbers:
“We must not fall into the tendency of signing players unnecessarily. We have to see what we have and what we need to achieve. Barcelona’s winning teams had players who came to the club with a name and others who wanted to win important things. That’s what’s happening now.”
