Dedic missed Benfica's starting line-up at Tondela for workload management. Record reports his recent exertions, notably against Real Madrid, led José Mourinho to rest him in the draw.
The right-back, a summer recruit, requires more tailored management due to fatigue and his condition has prompted some concern within the coaching staff.
He is aware of his physical state, has committed to recovery work and is being closely monitored.
In recent weeks he featured only against Porto in the Taça de Portugal defeat and against Real Madrid. He was spared for the win over Estrela da Amadora and the stalemate with Tondela, when Daniel Banjaqui covered at right-back.
Mourinho is proceeding carefully as Dedic is already among the squad's most-used players, and with Alexander Bah yet to return to contention, the No 17 is being managed to avoid another injury crisis.
Valued at 15 million euros, Dedic has played 32 official matches this season, 15 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 12 in the Liga dos Campeões, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,728 minutes he has one goal and three assists.
