Olympique de Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot (30) has said that he believes Ousmane Dembélé (28) should win the Ballon d’Or, citing the PSG winger’s decisive role in the club’s historic first UEFA Champions League title.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Marseille midfielder and former PSG man didn’t hesitate when asked about individual honours. “For me, Dembélé deserves the Ballon d’Or,” Rabiot said. “He won the Champions League and was consistently decisive on the pitch.”Despite now representing arch-rivals Marseille, Rabiot—who came through the ranks at PSG and played for the first team between 2012 and 2019—was quick to congratulate his former club on their maiden European crown.
“The PSG team played a great match that crowns a great season,” he said. “There was no contest. Everyone here [in Italy] was wondering what happened to the Inter side that had eliminated Barcelona. Maybe Lautaro wasn’t at his best, and only Thuram stood out. But Inter didn’t play their final. Losing 5-0 is humiliating.”GFFN | George Boxall
