FC Bayern have suffered a setback on the transfer market. The Munich club were on the verge of signing Liverpool talent Rio Ngumoha, but despite a verbal agreement with the player, the deal has fallen through for the time being. The record champions are now turning their attention to other candidates
While those responsible at Säbener Straße continue to work intensively on squad planning for the new season, a promising transfer has surprisingly fallen through. As reported by Sky, FC Bayern was already well advanced with Rio Ngumoha
According to the report, the Munich club reached a full verbal agreement with the 17-year-old attacking talent and his entourage at the end of May. The England youth international was seen internally as one of the most exciting projects for the future and had been on Bayern’s wish list for weeks
Particularly noteworthy: Ngumoha was seen within the club as a possible backup solution for Luis Díaz. At the same time, Munich were also looking at Anthony Gordon, who has since decided to move to FC Barcelona

According to Sky, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany personally contacted the player and the talks between the Belgian and the Liverpool talent are said to have been extremely positive
Kompany then gave the green light to sign the attacking player, which seemed to clear the way for a move to Munich
Bayern officials saw Ngumoha as an exceptional talent with great development potential. The Englishman can be deployed flexibly in attack and is considered one of the most promising young players in Liverpool FC’s youth academy
Despite reaching an agreement with the player, negotiations ultimately failed to reach a breakthrough
The decisive factor in the failure of the transfer apparently lies with Liverpool FC. The Reds are reportedly not interested in selling Ngumoha and are blocking the youngster’s move to Munich
This means that the deal is off the table, at least for the time being. It remains to be seen whether Bayern will make another attempt in the coming weeks, but there is currently little to suggest that Liverpool will change their stance in the near future
Munich have therefore already shifted their focus to other transfer targets, with Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari currently at the center of their plans
The Moroccan international from PSV Eindhoven is regarded as a versatile addition to the attack and is expected to remain a high priority for Bayern
Bayern are also going full throttle with Nathaniel Brown and are pushing for a transfer before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
