Stellenbosch FC winger Devin Titus has explained the decision to sign a new long-term contract with Stellies amid a growing interest in his services from several clubs.

The 24-year-old pacey forward was in the final six months of his deal in the Cape Winelands, which meant he was eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice.

However, Stellenbosch made a major breakthrough in negotiating a new contract with the player, who is now set to stay beyond June 2026 after reportedly extending by a further three years.

On putting pen to paper on fresh terms despite being in demand, Titus highlighted the role Stellies played in his career as he came through the club's development structures.

“Stellenbosch FC is the club that gave me an opportunity to follow my dream of becoming a professional footballer, so I'm very happy to have signed a new contract here,” he told Stellies' media team.

"I'm incredibly grateful to the club and all the coaches, staff, and players who have given me this platform to showcase my talent, and hopefully, there is even more to come in the next few years.

Notably, Titus made his Stellenbosch debut in 2021 against Black Leopards and has since chipped in with 33 goals and 15 assists in 153 matches across all competitions.

Furthermore, he helped the club lift the inaugural Carling Knockout Cup in 2023, reach back-to-back MTN8 finals, and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in two successive seasons.

Interestingly, Stellies are said to have rebuffed interest from Egyptian side Al Masry SC, while Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns were all linked to his signature.
