Luigi Di Biagio, currently coach of the Saudi Arabia U23 team, knows the Derby della Capitale very well.

He played there with Roma between 1995 and 1999.

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, he spoke about Roma and some of its players.

“Let me say something, first of all: what Pellegrini is going through is unacceptable. Everyone here has a short memory: we’re talking about a player who scored 55 goals for Roma. Not one. And yet, nothing.”

“Lorenzo lifted a trophy with Roma, eh? Do we remember that? So how does it work? Only Mourinho won that trophy, but then when games are lost, it’s Pellegrini’s fault. It’s not fair.”

“Kone? Does he score little? Yes, of course. But if we look closely, we’ll see that we can find flaws in every player. The Frenchman is a midfielder with enormous potential.”

“Cristante? If Roma has changed coaches a thousand times and they all end up choosing Cristante, what does that mean? That the lad is important and not everyone understands it. Because the mistake is more noticeable: it’s more visible than the hundred extra runs Bryan makes every game for his teammate. The problem is that everyone talks about football, but not everyone understands it.”
