Dieguinho made his first start under Fernando Diniz as Corinthians beat Barra 1-0 at Ressacada in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth phase. The holders rotated, and the 18-year-old forward was among the changes.
He played 62 minutes before Kaio César replaced him in the second half. According to Meu Timao, he had been on the bench for every earlier match under Diniz but had not featured.
His previous outing came in the 1-0 defeat to Internacional in early April in the Brasileirão, a result that led to Dorival Júnior’s dismissal. This year he has 11 appearances and 342 minutes, including a goal and an assist in the 3-0 win over Capivariano in the Paulista.
His first start of the year also came under Dorival, in January’s State Championship, a 3-0 loss to Red Bull Bragantino. In 2025 he made 14 appearances after debuting in April in a 2-1 win over Sport under interim Orlando Ribeiro.
All four of his 2025 starts were in the Brasileirão. He began in August’s 1-1 draw with Fortaleza, then started a 1-0 loss to Ceará. He later assisted in a 2-2 draw with Botafogo and finished with a 2-1 defeat to Fortaleza.
Dieguinho should be available to Diniz again on Sunday when Corinthians face Vasco at Neo Química Arena at 16:00, in round 13 of the Brasileirão.
