FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their plans for the summer and have a clear construction site in mind: the right side of defence. In addition to preferred candidate Givairo Read, a talent from England is now increasingly coming into focus

According to the latest reports, Munich are looking closely at Josh Acheampong from Chelsea FC. The 19-year-old is regarded as a promising right-back and could become a concrete alternative in the summer

Even though Konrad Laimer has shown strong performances on the right flank under Vincent Kompany this season, those responsible do not see him as a permanent solution for this position. Bayern are particularly concerned about the lack of width in the squad

If Laimer is unavailable, improvisation is required – a situation that they want to avoid at Säbener Straße in the future. Accordingly, the line of attack is clear: a trained right-back is to be signed in the summer

Acheampong as an alternative to Read?

Bayern have already identified a clear favorite in Givairo Read from Feyenoord Rotterdam, but the competition for the Dutchman is fierce, with top clubs such as Manchester City getting in on the action

This is where Josh Acheampong comes into play: the England U21 international was trained at Chelsea FC and already has experience at the highest level despite his young age

Internally, his athleticism, dynamism and development potential are particularly impressive – qualities that fit perfectly with Bayern’s current profile

Particularly interesting from Munich’s point of view: As transfer insider Ekrem Konur reports, Acheampong is apparently unhappy with his role at Chelsea. Too little playing time could prompt the youngster to make a move in the summer

In addition to Bayern, however, numerous Premier League clubs are also keeping a close eye on the situation, with clubs such as Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham also reportedly showing an interest

Whether Bayern actually make a concrete move for Acheampong is likely to depend largely on the outcome of the bidding for Givairo Read. Should the record champions come away empty-handed, the Chelsea youngster could quickly become the preferred alternative

One thing is clear: Munich want to close the gap at right-back in the summer – and already have several options up their sleeve.
