Omar Marmoush is unhappy at Manchester City and a loan move in the winter is on the cards – FC Bayern could also become an issue again

Marmoush had probably imagined his move to Manchester City very differently. When the Egyptian moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Skyblues in the winter of 2025 for around €75 million, the next big step in his career seemed perfect. FC Bayern had also looked closely at the attacking player at the time, but lost out in the race for his signature. Less than a year later, the England adventure is already in danger of falling through

In sporting terms, Marmoush has fallen behind at City. He scored seven times in the second half of the pre-season, but is hardly playing a role at the moment. In the last eight league games, the 26-year-old has only played 56 minutes – a clear sign that he has fallen far down the internal rankings. He has yet to score a goal of his own this season, and the international is growing increasingly dissatisfied

According to the British portal TEAMtalk, he is thinking very hard about his sporting future and is open to a premature departure

Competition at City intensifies

The situation is also explosive because Manchester City have made another massive addition with Antoine Semenyo. The 26-year-old came from Bournemouth for around €75 million and has significantly increased the competition in the attack. For Marmoush, this means that his prospects at the Etihad Stadium have hardly improved in the short term

According to Sky, an early departure in the winter is a realistic possibility, with a loan until the end of the season on the cards. Several Premier League clubs have already expressed an interest, but a return to the Bundesliga is not out of the question. As Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg reveals, several German clubs are interested in him

According to Plettenberg, Marmoush is not currently pushing for a departure in the winter. However, the striker is currently on duty at the Africa Cup. After his return from the tournament, it cannot be ruled out that there will be movement in the matter

Bayern would like to add personnel in the offense

And this is exactly where FC Bayern could come back into play. Munich are still looking for a reliable option on the left flank to take the pressure off Luis Díaz. Most recently, the focus has been on young, developing players who accept a clear backup role. Marmoush might not quite fit this profile, but he brings other qualities to the table

The ex-Frankfurter is extremely flexible offensively and can be deployed both on the wings and in the center of attack. Particularly in view of the unclear future of on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson, Marmoush would also be an interesting option as Kane’s backup. Another factor that should not be underestimated is his Bundesliga experience. Marmoush knows the league, opponents and requirements – an adjustment problem would hardly be expected

Financially, however, the issue remains complicated. With a current market value of around 65 million euros, Marmoush would not be a bargain. A loan model with a subsequent purchase option therefore seems more realistic. Whether FC Bayern seriously consider this option also depends on how the personnel situation in the attack develops.
