Dominic Calvert-Lewin says he is enjoying football again after a 95th-minute winner against Brighton. The strike took him to 14 Premier League goals in a brilliant debut season at Elland Road, his best return since 2020/21 and the second-highest of his career.

The 29-year-old pounced on a short Jan Paul van Hecke back-pass, rounded Bart Verbruggen and rolled into an empty net. Leeds created little else but Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon and Sebastiaan Bornauw threw themselves in the way, with Karl Darlow sharp behind them.

"That's the life of a striker. Sometimes you have to wait a while to get your chance but you’ve always got to be tuned in and thankfully I was today." He told Match of the Day.

"You know if you get one chance you can score." "I've loved it [this season]. It's been so enjoyable."

"I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity here and to be able to enjoy my football again. I’m at my best when I’m enjoying what I do."

"The culture at the club is the most important thing. It really is the heartbeat of the club. The characters we have got, hard working boys in the team."

Leeds visit West Ham on Sunday for their final game, with the hosts either already relegated or needing snookers to survive. Thomas Tuchel is due to name his England World Cup squad before the last round, and Calvert-Lewin made the previous group as one of three or four options to back up Harry Kane.

Sunday’s goal made him the joint-highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League alongside Ollie Watkins and Morgan Gibbs-White, and he now has three in his last three. Asked about World Cup hopes, he said: "Let's see. It's going to be busy anyway, I've got a two-and-a-half-year-old."
