Dominic Calvert-Lewin said he was grateful to atone for two misses with a late goal-line clearance as Leeds United sealed a historic win at Manchester United.

The striker misfired in the third minute, steering a cross straight at Senne Lammens, then his leap with Leny Yoro saw the ball fall for Noah Okafor to open the scoring. Michael Carrick felt he had fouled the defender.

After the break he sent a free header into Lammens’ gloves. He was also involved in Lisandro Martinez’s red card, saying he felt his hair pulled and told the referee, adding that he does not make the rules.

"I was just in the moment, switched on, engaged and waiting, doing my job. Thankfully I was there to clear the ball off the line and arguably it made up for the ones that I should've put away at the other end." He told Sky Sports.

The decisive intervention came on 86 minutes, when he headed Casemiro’s effort off the line and blocked Manuel Ugarte’s follow-up. Calvert-Lewin has 11 goals this season but none in the Premier League for nine weeks.

Leeds secured only their second Premier League away win and host bottom club Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, the last team they beat away in September. Calvert-Lewin said, "It's important we don't read too much into the external noise and continue to focus on what's in front of us."
