Dominik Szoboszlai delivered a stark message to team-mates and supporters after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham, lamenting fans leaving early. According to Goal.com, he urged unity with Champions League hopes under strain.
Liverpool dominated for long spells, recording 17 shots but only four on target. Szoboszlai put them ahead in the first half with a superb free kick at Anfield, his 11th of the season.
Richarlison levelled in the 90th minute. The ground fell quiet, boos followed at full-time and many spectators had already headed for the exits.
Szoboszlai said early departures around 80 minutes do not help the team and asked supporters to stick with them even when they concede. He stressed they need everybody behind them in difficult moments.
The result left Liverpool fifth and extended a worrying habit of conceding late. Recent defeats to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City and Bournemouth were settled by goals after the 90th minute, heightening anxiety in the stands.
He added that the squad held an internal meeting after the 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in Istanbul to discuss fading Champions League ambitions. They have to wake up and push for a return next season, he warned, with time running out.
