Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named FIFA The Best Men’s Goalkeeper for 2025 after an outstanding season at club and international level.

The Manchester City and Italy international takes the award after a 12-month period shaped largely by his performances with Paris Saint-Germain prior to his move to City.

The 26-year-old played a key role in PSG’s success, helping the club secure the Ligue 1 title as well as victories in the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions. His influence was also felt on the European stage, where he was instrumental in PSG’s historic UEFA Champions League triumph.

City’s No.25 was selected ahead of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Arsenal’s David Raya, Inter’s Yann Sommer and Barcelona’s Wojciech Szczesny.

Meanwhile, England international Hannah Hampton was awarded FIFA The Best Women’s Goalkeeper after a standout year with Chelsea and the national team.

The 25-year-old started every Women’s Super League match as Chelsea went unbeaten to claim the title, keeping 13 clean sheets to win the Golden Glove. She also played her part in the club’s success in the Women’s League Cup and Women’s FA Cup, completing a domestic treble.

Those performances earned Hampton a place in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for the European Championship, where she established herself as first-choice goalkeeper. She started every match as the Lionesses progressed from the group stage, overcame Sweden on penalties in the quarter-finals and defeated Italy after extra time in the semi-finals.

The final against Spain finished 1-1 after extra time and was decided by a penalty shootout, with Hampton making key saves as England retained their European title, rounding off the season with individual recognition from FIFA.
