Gianluigi Donnarumma will lead Paris Saint-Germain out in the Champions League final, where a derby of sorts against Inter awaits.
Donnarumma was one of the stars of the show last night as PSG beat Arsenal 2-1 on the night to secure a 3-1 aggregate victory and book their place in the final in Munich, where they will face a familiar opponent for the goalkeeper in Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.
He became the second-youngest goalkeeper ever to debut in Serie A when he was given the nod under Sinisa Mihajlovic aged 16 years and 242 days. Now he will play in the biggest game of all, even if his exit on a free transfer to Paris still feels raw to a lot of Rossoneri supporters.
Donnarumma spoke to Prime Video after the full-time whistle to shed some light on his emotions in view of the final, and also how his journey at PSG has been. MilanNews relayed his comments.
Inter await in the final, it will be a ‘derby’ of sorts for you…
Mamma mia, I’m already thinking about it. It will be really exciting. I’ll meet up with a lot of my teammates and friends, my old goalkeeping coach Spinelli. We talk almost every day. Advice to my teammates about Inter? I know them, it will be a very tough and very beautiful match.”
What was it like joining PSG?
“It wasn’t easy for every reason: language, new city, it was complicated but now everyone loves me and I’m happy.”

What is happening with your renewal?
“I still have one year left on my contract, there’s time to talk about renewal. I know how I feel here, the choice is entirely up to the club: all that’s left to do is sign.”
What has changed without Mbappé?
“The spirit has changed, we are much more of a team: we play for each other. We miss Kylian, he is one of the best in the world but I wish him all the best because he is a great friend.
“The team is very united, we are very good together. We won a European Championship like this [with Italy], this makes the difference in all teams.”
