Was Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League defeat to Bologna Nuri Sahin's last game as Borussia Dortmund coach?
After Friday's 2-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt - Dortmund's third in a row - managing director for sport Lars Ricken put Sahin under pressure to win Tuesday's Champions League game.
And now that the game ended in defeat instead, Ricken has left it open whether Sahin will keep his job.
"My expectations after Frankfurt were clear. We need wins and results. We haven't won the last four games. I have a good, trusting relationship with Nuri. He has my support too. But of course my statements also stand," Ricken told Prime Video.
"So you're not going to get a decision from me here in Italy that is based on emotion and shot from the hip. We will go home tomorrow and sit down together in peace.
“We only want the best for Borussia Dortmund. And then we'll discuss what's best for Borussia Dortmund and what the solutions are so that we can get back on track,” said Ricken.
Asked if there will be a decision on Sahin's future before Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Werder Bremen, Ricken replied:
"That's right, we'll discuss it tomorrow."
In an earlier interview, Borussia Dortmund advisor Matthias Sammer slammed the performance, saying:
"If we take an analytical approach, this team is physically and mentally out of shape.
“If you look at their performance today, you'd think the foundations weren't there. Unfortunately, the team can't defend, but they can't attack either. There's no clear structure in the team," Sammer added.
