Douglas Luiz is set to return to his former club Aston Villa on loan with a potential permanent option, interrupting his loan deal from Juventus to Nottingham Forest in the process.
Multiple outlets in Italy and the UK, including the Athletic’s David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano and The Telegraph, Douglas Luiz is all set to reunite with Unai Emery at Aston Villa until the end of the 2025-26 season at a minimum.
The relevant parties are reportedly discussing the final details, but the Brazilian is now expected to terminate his loan deal with Nottingham Forest in order to facilitate a return to Aston Villa. This will include an option to buy according to the latest updates.

Douglas Luiz originally joined Juventus from Aston Villa in a €50m deal in the summer of 2024, but the Brazilian struggled to make a solid impression in Serie A, and only played the full 90 minutes on two occasions during his only season in Italy.
He was then allowed to leave the club in August, joining Nottingham Forest on loan with an option to buy in the region of €30m, which would have become an obligation to buy after a certain number of appearances, which will now not be triggered.
The 27-year-old has made eight Premier League appearances so far this term, plus four in the Europa League, one in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.
