Denzel Dumfries has urged Inter Milan to bounce back from recent defeats to Juventus and PSG in Serie A and the Champions League, respectively.

Speaking to Prime via FCInterNews, the Dutch wingback highlighted the importance of taking three points against Ajax tonight.

Inter Milan reached the Champions League grand final last season.

However, PSG took advantage of Simone Inzaghi’s distracted mind to beat the Nerazzurri 5-0 in the Munich showpiece.

Indeed, it was a bitter pill to swallow, leaving the Inter squad on the edge of despair.

Furthermore, Inzaghi left the club almost immediately to take charge of Al-Hilal, with Inter appointing Cristian Chivu as his successor.

After a dream Serie A start, the 44-year-old has lost back-to-back games, including the recent Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

Therefore, the former defender can only feel the heat.

Dumfries was in the form of his life last term, yet it wasn’t enough for Inter to win their first Champions League title since 2010.

However, the new season presents a new opportunity, with Inter aiming for their third appearance in the final in four years.

Beating Ajax in Amsterdam would be a perfect way to kick things off.

Furthermore, it would allow the Nerazzurri to put the abovementioned rout to PSG behind them.

“We have to win, that’s our only goal,” Dumfries said. “We have to win and start our journey well.”

Then, he confirmed that he and his teammates know how to recover from recent failures.

“The recent defeats against Juventus and PSG? We’ve been playing together for a long time,” Dumfries added.

“We know how to overcome these things. The most important game is always the next one. We have to give our best.”
