Celtic are flying high in the Scottish Premiership once again, but their performance in the Champions League should excite the fan base.
Apart from one poor defeat away to Borussia Dortmund, the Bhoys have been brilliant in this competition.
When Celtic signed three new players on the summer transfer deadline day, many felt that Brendan Rodgers’ side was now well equipped to do well in European games.
One of the newcomers who have really impressed under Rodgers in recent games is Auston Trusty, who is already making a big impact.
Celtic used the money to bolster several areas of the pitch. They signed Trusty, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan before the transfer deadline.
Trusty, who can play at left-back and centre-back, joined the Hoops from Sheffield United on a long-term deal.
The Scottish giants paid around £6 million to get his signature. After a series of strong performances, especially in European games, it seems Celtic have made the right decision yet again when it comes to signing players.
The 26-year-old has been simply brilliant for Celtic, and he recently produced a stellar performance during their 3-1 win over RB Leipzig.
Trusty has played six games in the Scottish Premiership and started in three Champions League matches.
He has been a part of the defence that kept four clean sheets in the league. The USA international is very good at reading the game, and his 4.2 ball recoveries are a testament to that calibre.
Trusty loses only 6.8 possessions and maintains an enviable passing accuracy of 95%.
On top of that, he manages 1.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.0 clearances per game.
In the last game against Kilmarnock, he made six clearances and blocked three shots. Against Leipzig, he made three successful tackles and won 100% of his ground duels.
He was equally brilliant in the wins over Aberdeen, Dundee, Motherwell, and Atalanta, and there is a feeling that he can get even better.
The strong recruitment at Celtic has been one of the major reasons why they have dominated in Scotland in the past few years, and Trusty is already proving to be a transfer masterstroke signing from the Glasgow giants.
