Former England international Mary Earps has signed for London City Lionesses from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper spent two years in France following her departure from Manchester United in 2023 and returns to the Women’s Super League on a contract running until the summer of 2028.
Earps conceded 18 goals in 22 appearances for the Parisian side, keeping 12 clean sheets as they finished third in the Premiere Ligue Féminine to qualify for the Women’s Champions League playoff round.
She has become something of an icon of the women’s game, being part of Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses who won the European Championship in 2022 and made 122 appearances for Manchester United and won a single Women’s FA Cup.
Earps said: “I’m over the moon, I’m really looking forward to it.
“I think the club speaks to exactly what I stand for, I can’t wait to join and get down to business. This is the first day of the next chapter.
“The club’s values represent what I want to represent, and they are passionate about what I want to achieve and change the game in a positive way. All the conversations have been really positive.”
Owned by American businesswoman Michelle Kang, London City finished sixth in the WSL by the end of the 2025/26 season and set the new highest finish achieved by a newly promoted club in their first top flight campaign under Eder Maestre.
The division’s only club to have no affiliation with a men’s team sacked Jocelyn Precheur occupying the same league position in December, believing Maestre’s style of football was the one that can achieve continental football.
Earps said she believes that she still has more to offer as a professional footballer, and that this was the main reason behind her decision to join the WSL’s only independent club.
She added: “It won’t be easy, the WSL is extremely competitive.
“The team had a brilliant 2025/26 season finishing mid-table in their first season, now it’s about climbing the table and working towards finishing as high as possible.
“I feel I still have so much left to give to the game, and that’s exactly why I chose London City.”
Earps began her career at Leicester City in 2009 but would not make an appearance, first playing in the WSL for Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2011.
A move to German side Wolfsburg followed spells with Coventry City, Birmingham, Bristol, and Reading in 2018, where she won the Frauen-Bundesliga title and lifted the DFB Pokal.
