Edinson Cavani has agreed to terminate his Boca contract, ending his spell at the club. The deal, which had been due to run until December 2026, is set to be rescinded.
According to SuperDepor.com, the 39-year-old forward was hindered by injuries and niggles across the recent semester as new head coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena set about planning the squad.
A week ago Cavani underwent another lumbar block to tackle the pain that had kept him sidelined in 2026. He faced at least a month and a half of recovery. His intention had been to return and play again for Boca.
However, he was not in the new manager’s plans, and a verbal agreement is in place to bring his time at the club to a close.
Cavani arrived as a marquee signing in mid 2023. He played 81 matches, completing only 27, scored 28 goals and provided 12 assists, and he was part of the side that reached the 2023 Copa Libertadores final. He leaves after three years without a title.
