Edinson Cavani has confirmed his Boca Juniors exit in a video on his social channels, but the 39-year-old Uruguay forward did not announce his retirement. The player said in a post that he was leaving the club, without revealing any plans to quit the game.

Cavani joined Boca three years ago, played 81 matches and scored 28 goals. He departs without a trophy, his time there marred by injuries and a four-month absence.

He has no regrets about coming to fulfil a long-held wish to play for Boca, but reflected on difficult moments he had not imagined. Those setbacks, he felt, stopped him from leaving the imprint on the club he wanted.

Discovering Boca and everything around it gave him the drive to prepare and give 100% in each match, influenced by the passion and fervour of the supporters.

Cavani leaves with his next steps unspecified, having confirmed only his departure and not retirement.
